Delton Gerloff

Delton Gerloff is an Extension Specialist, working in the areas of row crops marketing and management, and farm and financial management. He has developed computer decision tools to help farmers make better informed financial decisions. One of his computer programs calculates comparable returns to various pricing alternatives for corn, wheat, and soybeans.

Most recently, Gerloff developed a computer decision tool that evaluates farm net revenue given various crop mix scenarios. The evaluation is tied to the annual UT Row Crop Budgets, which Dr. Gerloff updates each January.

Dr. Gerloff also produced the first switchgrass budgets for the UT Switchgrass project, including the establishment, re-seeding, and production budgets. Those budgets are currently being updated, given the first two years’ data. The budgets have also been modified in a new spreadsheet format that will allow users to easily manage updates to both production and price changes.
